Claire Durand is professor at the department of sociology, University of Montreal.Her research interests include survey and quantitative methods, with a focus on combination of data and historical analysis of survey data. She has analysed the electoral polls in major campaigns in Quebec, Canada, France, United States and United Kingdom (Brexit and Indiref). She has recently concentrated her research on institutional trust in the world and its relationship with democracy. In this respect, she has worked on the measurement of democracy.
She has also worked on the social impact of the selection of statistics, particularly as it pertains to Aboriginals in Canada.
